Double R Ranch

Bone-In Prime Rib Roast

Is it possible to improve our Northwest Source-Certified Double R Ranch Prime Rib Roasts? We think we have with our Bone-In Prime Ribs, the perfect roasts for those who prefer a classic presentation. The bones insulate the savory beef from the heat of the oven so meat surrounding the bones cooks slower, leaving those sections extra juicy and tender. Each roast is tied with butcher’s twine for a wonderful handcrafted aesthetic and more consistent cooking.

Due to the unique conformations of this product, approximate weights can vary up to +/- 0.5 pounds.

See our Prime Rib Perfection Prep Guide for the best way to prepare your prime rib. Step-by-step methods for your oven, smoker or grill are included. You can also download a printable guide to use in the kitchen or backyard.

Roast Temperature Guide

Here are the magic numbers you’ll need to determine when your roast is cooked to the degree of doneness you most prefer. The internal temp is when the roast should be removed from the heat. The roast will continue to cook so the temperature will rise during the rest period.

Preference Description Internal Temp
Rare Red center, very cool 110°F
Medium Rare Red, warm center 120°F
Medium Pink throughout 130°F
Medium Well Pink center 140°F
Well No pink Not recommended

*Consuming raw or undercooked meats may increase your risk of foodborne illness. The USDA recommends an internal temp of 145°F and resting for at least 3 minutes.

  • Best Bone3 in EVER!

This was the 3rd Christmas having Prime RIb for our dinner. Was the first time not buying one at a specialty meat market. Was by FAR the best roast of the 3!
Family was very pleased and said wherever i got this year's roast is where i should always get them from now on.
The marbeling was perfect throughout and the taste was beyond description! I thawed it 3 days, then seasoned it and rewrapped it and kept it in the fridge for 36 hours.
I will be ordering from you next year and the year after and....
Thank you for having such a superior product!

  • I screwed up and it still was great

First, the ordering experience was easy and great. FedEx nearly dropped the ball by being lazy and not delivering the day they should have, but SRF clearly plans for their mess ups -- the prime rib was still a solid block of ice when it appeared. And can I just say I love the new insulated shopping bag I got?

Anyway, my digital thermometer decided that the year I get a real prime rib (and not settle for choice) was the year it was going to not work well. It kept reading lower than what I found out the roast was at. My prime rib was still rare -- but it had those grey edges we all know and hate. Regardless, it's still one of the best I made. It was so tender, so juicy, the marbling was fantastic. I gave a bit to my dog and she turned into a crazed lunatic (more than usual). I will order again next year. I will also order a new thermometer.

  • Best Prime Rib Ever!

I was skeptical in paying so much for a prime rib, but that quickly disappeared as soon as I opened the box and saw the incredible marbeling in the meat. I followed Snake Rivers suggestion and put a heavy coating of kosher salt on the prime rib the night before, then pulled it out of the refrigerator 2 hours before I put it on the smoker. I used pure oak and started at 150 for 1 hour, 180 for the next 2 hours, then finished it up at 225 until the internal temp (center) reached 130. We let it rest 30 minutes, then sliced. Unbelievably tender and flavorful. Everyone commented that it was the best they had ever eaten. I could not be more pleased with the quality and the expert trimming of the prime rib. You need to order one - I promise you will not be disappointed!
