Carnitas with Kurobuta Shoulder
As a veteran shoulder smoker, I was excited to try SRF's Krobuta shoulder with my Carnitas recipe. Once the shoulder thawed, I was amazed to see how well structured the shoulder looked. The fat was bright white, and well trimmed. It is the first shoulder that I didn't have to pre-trim or remove any connective tissue before smoking on the Komada Joe. The result was unbelievable. I would highly recommend this cut. I will never buy another shoulder from anywhere but SRF. It turned out amazing

I purchase the pork shoulder as we were in need of some good food for the 4th of July. We had about 17 friends and family over. Usually we have a bigger party but due to restrictions in NY we invited far less. The 19lb shoulder cooked much quicker than I thought. Smoked at 225 on my Traeger for 13 hours. There was plenty of food for everyone as well as leftovers. Someone asked if I would purchase again and I am not sure if I would. Normally I purchase a boston butt for around $20. So 2 of those for $40 would be comparable to the $120 19lb should. Although we enjoyed I did not see or taste the difference. I have purchase the bone in ham and tasted a big difference. So I have repurchased that 3 times. This I think will be 1 time disappointment.

Smoked to juicy perfection!
I just thought I would give the Kurobuta porch shoulder a try because we like the pork chops so much. Glad I did because it was the best one I have ever cooked. Flavorful and juicy. Can’t wait to have another.

We have done quite a few boston butt shoulders in oven and smokers. This one is magnificent. We'd be lying if we say it tastes as good as Iberico but it really comes close! Cut is well butchered and trimmed we only had to cut out less than 4oz of skin/fat; as opposed to grocery pork shoulders where we spend at least 30 minutes cleaning and trimming. Pepper-based texas style seasoning and then 220f low-n-slow smoke overnight (post oak wood smoke). Succulent tender and delicious. Leftover used a couple of days later for carnitas tacos.

This shoulder was MEGA
The finest quality pork I’ve ever tasted!! Every shred of pork was frosted with the finest pig fat taste. It was like the crispy cream of pulled porks.. I was expecting a 12-14 lb shoulder and a Jurassic 22.5lb shoulder encased is dry ice was sitting on my door yard MEGA!!! I can’t wait to do this all over again, 15 hours on the traeger cherry smoke!
