Snake River Farms Kurobuta Whole Bone-In Ham

There’s something almost magical about Snake River Farms Whole Bone-In Kurobuta hams. Produced using time-honored curing methods and carefully smoked over real hardwood, our gourmet hams are tender, rich in flavor, and have the perfect essence of smoke. This 14 to 18 lb. ham includes the bone for a traditional appearance, wonderful flavor and is the perfect start to the post-dinner split pea soup. Our hams consistently receive top scores in artisan ham comparisons and are frequently featured by celebrity chefs and culinary experts during the holidays. 

Kurobuta is the Japanese term for “black hog” and refers to animals of the Berkshire variety, a heritage breed. Kurobuta pork is highly marbled with a beautiful dark color, firm texture, and naturally delicious flavor. The Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries mandates that pork designated as “Kurobuta” must consist of 100% Berkshire animals. Snake River Farms gourmet hams strictly adhere to this requirement. Our animals are treated humanely and are raised on small family farms without hormones using a natural slow feed process.

    We had Whole Kurobuta Ham for Christmas and it was simply perfect! My grandfather was a pig farmer back in the day and this is the first ham I have had in over 20 years that as they say..."taste like real ham." Kudos! Will be ordering again along with the bacon, and the ribs (4th of July).

    We received a whole Kurobuta ham for Christmas as a gift. After searching for instructions (not included) I went to your site. I followed the instructions using my own glaze and it was the absolute best ham my family and I had ever eaten! I will be ordering this ham for myself in the future. Also, I will recommend it to everyone!

  • How to cook the best hams ever

    Recently I cooked my 4th or 5th Snake River Farms, Kurobuta whole, bone-in, ham and our guests all said it was the best ever - I agree.

    The last two times I've cooked it sous vide for 6 hours at 140 degrees in the vacuum sealed bag it comes in. Then I take it out and pat it dry with paper towels. I coat it with a quality extra virgin olive oil, salt and pepper it and into the oven (preheated to 450) for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove, slice and serve - no need to let it rest.

    The result is the most incredibly moist, tender, best tasting ham I've ever had - truly better than the traditional way of cooking/reheating in my guests opinion.
