Snake River Farms Kurizo™ Named
a Best New Product in 2005 by Stagnito's
(Boise, ID) - Snake River Farms Kurizo™ gourmet Chorizos, a sausage made from 100% pure all-natural Berkshire Pork in the traditional Basque style was named a best new product in 2005 by Stagnito's New Products Magazine. Snake River Farms Kurizo™ ranked sixth overall.
Joan Holleran, the editor at Stagnito's, and one of the reviewers of this year's entries stated that Kurizo inspired her to make a paella-style dish which was a hit with her family and friends. "The Kurizo made the dish, truly, because it has an excellent balance of spices and quality sausage," said Holleran. She had no qualms trying the product. "I already trusted the Snake River brand, so I wasn't worried about quality," she said.
Snake River Farms Kurizo™ is lean and flavorful due to Kurobuta Pork's small, fine streaks of marbling that makes the meat sweet and tender. The sausages also retain significantly more moisture after cooking than regular Chorizo which translates into a juicier product.
Kurizo gourmet Chorizos are made following the culinary traditions of Basque families by following recipes handed down through generations. The meat is fully cured and coarsely cut, then flavored with dried red pepper giving it a rich color.
In the Spanish countryside, food and eating are the center of everyday Basque life and chorizos are eaten simply sliced, sautéed, or added to soups, stew, omelets, potatoes, and bean dishes.
Dan Ansotegui, owner of the Basque Market and Bar Gernika restaurant in Boise has carried the product for the past three months. "I switched from another brand of Chorizo because Snake River Farms Kurizo has a wonderful flavor and quality that our customer's like," said Ansotegui. "Sales have been excellent," he continued.
Snake River Farms Kurizo™ is sold in a one-pound pack, fully cooked.
No extenders, sodium, or water are ever added to Snake River Farms' Kurobuta Pork products. Taste tests comparing American Kurobuta Pork (Berkshire) to other common pork varieties consistently show that consumers prefer Kurobuta. In fact, the National Pork Producers Council conducted a taste test using 25 quality traits, and Kurobuta pork ranked #1 in 19 of them, including tenderness and juiciness.
