Our Kurobuta (100% Berkshire breed) hams consistently receive top scores in artisan ham comparisons and are frequently featured by celebrity chefs and culinary experts during the holidays. Produced using traditional curing methods and carefully smoked over real hardwood, our gourmet hams are tender, rich in flavor, and have the perfect essence of smoke. As the name implies, these are our whole bone-in hams cut in half for meals when less ham is required. There are two sizes of half bone-in hams: small (about  6lbs.) and large (about 8 lbs).

Kurobuta is the Japanese term for “black hog” and refers to animals of the Berkshire variety, a heritage breed. Kurobuta pork is highly marbled with a beautiful dark color, firm texture, and naturally delicious flavor. The Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries mandates that pork designated as “Kurobuta” must consist of 100% Berkshire animals. Snake River Farms gourmet hams strictly adhere to this requirement. Our animals are treated humanely and are raised on small family farms without hormones using a natural slow feed process.

    We have now purchased our 3rd ham. One for NY eve, one for a Bday party in April. and we have one frozen to be used on Father's day..
    It is probaby the best smoked ham I have ever tasted, just enough smokiness and sweetness. But the quality of the texture is superb

    Tastes like ham is supposed to and used to. Thank you Snake River Farms. It's on our Easter table every year, and the bean soup made with the bone was the bomb.

  • Best Easter Ham!

    The half ham was delivered the day after I ordered it, perfectly chilled in a Styrofoam cooler. I put it in the fridge for a day and half. Baked it for Easter and it was yummy and served 6 easily. SFR is an easy company to order from, except the Kurobuta sampler is always out of stock and I want to try it! Really nice pork.

    I have been a customer for many years and the quality is always there to enjoy. I am curious though why you ship to Spokane Washington from Kansas with three days + in transit when you can deliver in one day from Lewiston.
